Spring football is here! What a time to be alive!

With new players establishing themselves as players to watch during every spring practice, 247Sports’ Cody Nagel made a list with one player to watch from each Big 12 team as a rising star in spring football.

  • Arizona – DE Ta’itai’ Uiagelelei
  • Arizona State – QB Jaden Rashada
  • Baylor – CB Levar Thornton Jr.
  • BYU – LB Jack Kelly
  • Cincinnati – LB Jonathan Thompson
  • Colorado – DL Samuel Okunlola
  • Houston – CB Latrell McCutchin
  • Iowa State – WR Jayden Higgins
  • Kansas – OT Calvin Clements
  • Kansas State – WR Jayce Brown
  • Oklahoma State – DT Justin Kirkland
  • TCU – RB Cam Cook
  • Texas Tech – DL Amier Washington
  • UCF – WR Bredell Richardson
  • Utah – OT Caleb Lomu
  • West Virginia – WR Traylon Ray

Each player on Nagel’s list received a breakdown, including stats from the previous year, expectations, and general assessments of the player’s overall upside.

“Most of the names on this list contributed in some capacity last season, while others are newcomers from either the transfer portal or high school ranks,” Nagel said. “With spring practices set to begin, or already underway, across the Big 12, it is a crucial time for further development of rising college football stars.”

While it’s never easy to predict which new names will cross over into star territory in the Big 12 Conference, the 14 names listed above should have a good shot at becoming household names, at least in the eyes of Cody Nagel.
