With conference play beginning to wind down in the Big 12 Conference, ESPN released a bracketology update that features nine teams from the league earning an invite to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

The nine teams listed as tournament participants are (1) Houston, (2) Kansas, (3) Iowa State, (4) Baylor, (5) Texas Tech, (6) BYU, (8) Oklahoma, (8) Texas, and (9) TCU. The Big 12 Conference is also represented on the bubble with both Cincinnati and Kansas State narrowly missing out on a bid.

With the Big 12 Conference continuing to provide opportunities for Quad 1 wins on a nightly basis, the league placed more teams than any other conference in Joe Lunardi’s latest update to the NCAA Tournament field.

Of the nine teams that were mentioned in the update, the group currently holds a collective record of 178-65.

In the scenario listed above, the matchups based on seeding would look something like this.

(1) Houston vs. (16) Sam Houston

(2) Kansas vs. (15) Eastern Washington

(3) Iowa State vs. (14) Oakland

(4) Baylor vs. (13) UC Irvine

(5) Texas Tech vs. (12) Samford

(6) BYU vs. (11) Seton Hall/Gonzaga

(8) Oklahoma vs. (9) New Mexico

(8) Texas vs. (9) Boise State

(9) TCU vs. (8) Florida Atlantic

While the 2024 NCAA Tournament is still a couple of weeks away, the nine teams listed above from the Big 12 Conference are currently passing the eye test as tournament bids, at least in the eyes of Joe Lunardi.
