With conference play past the halfway mark in the Big 12 Conference, ESPN released a bracketology update that features nine teams from the league earning an invite to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

The nine teams listed as tournament participants are (1) Houston, (2) Kansas, (3) Baylor, (3) Iowa State, (5) BYU, (6) Texas Tech, (7) Oklahoma, (8) Texas, and (10) TCU. Wes Miller and the Cincinnati Bearcats barely missed the tournament and were listed in the first four out category.

With the Big 12 Conference continuing to provide opportunities for Quad 1 wins on a nightly basis, the league placed more teams than any other conference in Joe Lunardi’s latest update to the NCAA Tournament field.

Of the nine teams that were mentioned in the update, the group currently holds a collective record of 164-54.

In the scenario listed above, the matchups based on seeding would look something like this.

(1) Houston vs. (16) Sam Houston

(2) Kansas vs. (15) Quinnipiac

(3) Baylor vs. (14) Eastern Washington

(3) Iowa State vs. (14) Vermont

(5) BYU vs. (12) Indiana State

(6) Texas Tech vs. (11) Nebraska

(7) Oklahoma vs. (10) New Mexico

(8) Texas vs. (9) Texas A&M

(10) TCU vs. (8) Colorado State

While the 2024 NCAA Tournament is still nearly a month away, the nine teams listed above from the Big 12 Conference are currently passing the eye test as tournament bids, at least in the eyes of Joe Lunardi.
