No. 2 Houston Leads Six Big 12 Teams Land in the Latest AP Poll

Six Big 12 teams were among the nation’s best as the Associated Press Men’s Basketball Top 25 was released after the season’s 15th week of games.

The Big 12 ranked teams included:

Houston at No. 2 (No. 3 last week);

Iowa State at No. 6 (No. 10 last week);

 

Kansas at No. 9 (No. 6 last week);

Baylor at No. 11 (No. 12 last week);

BYU at No. 25 (No. 19 last week);

Texas Tech at No. 23 (receiving votes last week)

Oklahoma dropped out of the poll (No. 25 last week).

Houston (22-3, 9-3) played one game last week, blowing out Texas, 82-61. Houston hosts Iowa State on Monday, the team the Cougars are tied with at the top of the Big 12 standings. Then, on Saturday, Houston is at Baylor.

Iowa State (20-5, 8-3) won both of its games last week, defeating Cincinnati, 68-59, and Texas Tech, 82-74. The Cyclones will face Houston on Monday with the Big 12 lead on the line, followed by a home game with West Virginia on Saturday.

 

Kansas (20-6, 8-5) split last week, falling to Texas Tech, 79-50, and beating Oklahoma, 67-57. Kansas has a mid-week bye before hosting Texas on Saturday.

Baylor (19-6, 8-4) won both of its games last week, defeating Oklahoma, 79-62, and West Virginia, 94-81. The Bears travel to BYU on Tuesday and host Houston on Saturday.

Texas Tech (18-7, 7-5) blew out Kansas, 79-50, to start last week before falling to Iowa State, 82-74. Texas Tech will host TCU on Tuesday and then travel to UCF on Saturday.

BYU (18-7, 6-6) split last week, defeating UCF, 90-88, and falling to Oklahoma State, 93-83. BYU hosts Baylor on Tuesday and then travels to Kansas State on Saturday.

Oklahoma (18-8, 6-7) fell out of the poll after losing both games last week — 79-62 to Baylor and 67-57 to Kansas. The Sooners are off during the week before traveling to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
