While former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes II and his team get ready for a massive game against Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, the Mahomes family had a tough setback this weekend.

According to Smith County’s online records database, Mahomes was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, which resulted in his third arrest related to Driving Under the Influence.

Mahomes had his second DWI charge back in 2018 and after pleading guilty was sentenced to 40 days in county jail. The bond for this arrest was not listed on the jail website.

Mahomes Sr., 53, played 11 seasons in MLB, pitching for the Mets in the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

While Patrick Mahomes Sr. now has to go through the legal issues surrounding his arrest, his son, Patrick Mahomes II, will take the field in Super Bowl 58 in just seven days. The Chiefs quarterback will face off with another former Big 12 quarterback in Iowa State‘s Brock Purdy who has quickly become a catalyst in San Francisco.

The Super Bowl matchup between Kansas City and San Francisco kicks off on Sunday, February 11th at 5:30 PM CT live from Allegiant Stadium is Las Vegas.
