While Grant McCasland and the Texas Tech Red Raiders were already facing a tough task on Saturday against the 10th-ranked Iowa State Cyclones in Ames, the path to victory appears to have gotten significantly harder.

The Red Raiders will be without one of their starters on Saturday with senior forward Warren Washington sidelined due to a foot injury.

The loss of Washington is huge for Texas Tech as the California native has been one of the key contributors for Grant McCasland in 2023-24. The senior forward is currently averaging 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in his fifth season of college basketball.

Coming out of high school, Washington was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 359th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 61st-ranked power forward in his class and the 37th-ranked player in the state of California.

Washington’s biggest game of the season came against BYU on January 20th where he recorded 18 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, and one block. The Red Raiders will look to find some secondary production against Iowa State when the two teams tip off on ESPN+ at 11:00 AM CT.
