The 2024 NCAA Tournament selection committee has given the Texas Tech Red Raiders the No. 6 seed in the South Regional.

Texas Tech will take on No. 11 NC State on Thursday in Pittsburgh. NC State is in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023. The winner will play either No. 3 seed Kentucky or No. 14 seed Oakland.

Texas Tech enters March Madness under first-year head coach Grant McCasland, who drastically improved the culture in Lubbock. McCasland took the Red Raiders from ninth place in 2022-23 to fourth in 2023-24.

Texas Tech finished the regular season with a 23-10 record, including a 11-7 record in Big 12 play.

Texas Tech missed the NCAA Tournament and the NIT Tournament in 2023, with their last trip to the NCAA Tournament coming as a 3-seed in 2022.

The Red Raiders are led by sophomore guard Pop Isaacs, who averaged 15.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this season. He was among five players honored on the All-Big 12 Third Team alongside Jalen Bridges, Ja’Kobe Walter, J’Wan Roberts, and Darrion Williams.

Texas Tech has made 19 NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching one Final Four in 2019 and back-to-back Elite Eights in 2018 and 2019. The Red Raiders’ overall record in March Madness is 19-20.
