As the incredible career of former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues, Texas Tech has continued to capitalize on the momentum by supporting its most famous alum.

In a hype video narrated by Texas Tech offensive coordinator Zach Kittley, Texas Tech reminded Patrick Mahomes to “leave a legacy” when he steps on the field in Super Bowl 58.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are set to take the field on Sunday for their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five seasons. Since entering the league in 2017 Mahomes has completely reshaped the narrative surrounding Big 12 quarterbacks in the NFL. “I’m extremely excited about it,” Mahomes said at Super Bowl media day. “I remember when I first got to the Super Bowl, I think I was like the first Big 12 quarterback to get here and so now we’ve kind of dominated the Super Bowls with Big 12 quarterbacks.”

Mahomes and the Chiefs have a chance to become the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots accomplished the feat in 2003 and 2004. Kansas City had a chance to repeat in Super Bowl 54 and Super Bowl 55, but after beating San Francisco in their first Super Bowl, the Chiefs suffered a loss at the hands of Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Mahomes and the Chiefs will face off with another former Big 12 signal caller in the Super Bowl, Brock Purdy, who has been sensational for the San Francisco 49ers since being selected as the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The game will kick off at 5:30 PM CT on CBS.
